Tariq Wajid (Class of 1969) conferred prestigious French National Award
The following news item appeared in "The Nation" newspaper on February 1, 2012.

Karachi - The newly-appointed Ambassador of France to Pakistan, H.E. Philippe Thiebaud visited the Karachi Head Office of Sanofi Pakistan, where he conferred the prestigious French National Award "Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Merite" (Knight of the National Order of Merit) on Tariq Wajid, the General Manager & Managing Director of Sanofi Pakistan. Mr. Wajid was appointed French Knight of the National Order of Merit (Chevalier de l'Ordre du Merite) by the French President Nicolas Sarkozy in May 2011. When bestowed upon foreign citizens, this distinction, created by General Charles de Gaulle, rewards their remarkable contribution to enhance relations between their country and France.

What a great testament to the greatness of the institution which groomed us for these occassions!
What can I say?
This validates the steadfastness of this man who bored the hell out of opposing players with his "tuck tuck" at the crease in a cricket game. The same patience, steadfastness, his penchant for details, may it be for his perfect hair or immaculately cleaned and pressed school uniform, or the technique he employed in those forward going cricket strokes negating the off or leg spin and tiring out those who wanted to compete with him has manifested itself in this well deserved award... Good going pal!
I am proud to be the one who shared the class room with him...who shared the cricket ground with him and who cherishes his friendship.
May Allah bestows on him more awards and successes in the future! May he keep shining like a bright star, he is, as a beacon for others!
