Dr. Farrukh Kidwai was a Corporate & Operational Excellence Champion with W. L. Gore and Associates, Inc., a global manufacturing firm based in Newark, Delaware, U.S.A. Makers of diverse products such as Gore-tex Fabrics, Elixir Guitar Strings and Gore-tex Vascular Grafts to name a few. Gore was recently named by Fast Company magazine (December 2004) America's most innovative company, and also named every year since 1984 as one of th 100 Best Companies to work for in America. Farrukh led the enterprise-wide Operational Excellence efforts to reduce waste and inefficiencies from all its processes, thereby enhancing Gore's overall productivity, flexibility and profitability. Farrukh has developed, implemented and monitored the progress of such programs as 5S, Value Stream Management, Cross Functional Process Mapping, Kaizen Events, Single Minute Exchange of Dies, and Visual Workplace. Farrukh's efforts have increased asset utilization by 30% and reduced worldwide work-in-process inventory by 50%, and re-deployment of assets in millions of dollars.
Farrukh has been a featured speaker at several national professional association conferences, bringing a sense of passion and energy to his speaking engagements. A Six-Sigma Master Blackbelt and certified JONAH, Farrukh draws upon his 20+ years of experience to educate others on the business benefits and opportunities that come from increased attention to Lean and other continuous improvement models. In addition to his work at Gore and public speaking, Farrukh is on the Advisory Boards of the University of Delaware's Engineering Technology program and the Delaware Manufacturing Extension Partnership (DEMEP), a state-wide resource for manufacturing businesses. He has served as Quality Examiner for Dubai Economic Department, Government of Dubai, UAE, and American Society of Quality, Delaware, U.S.A.
Prior to joining Gore, Farrukh served as Resident Vice President for Citibank N.A. at their Dubai, UAE office. In his role as vice president, Farrukh was responsible for business process engineering, quality and customer services. While vice president, his operation achieved the Dubai Quality Award based on Malcolm Baldrige, Award criteria for Citibank. Before joining Citibank, Farrukh held a regional director role for AST Computers, a U.S. based computer manufacturing company, and was involved with operations, quality, forecasting, logistics and information systems. While there, he headed the ISO 9001 Certification process for the company.
In April 2005, Farrukh moved from US and joined Sharjah Bank, located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E), as Vice President of Quality & Business Process Engineering Division to establish Service Quality and Process Engineering. He also serves as external examiner for eMBA students at Sharjah University, and conduct sessions at Emirates Institute for Banking and Finance Studies.
In August 2007, he joined a new start up local bank; Noor Bank located in Dubai, U.A. E as a Group Head of Service Quality & Business Process Engineering globally. He is responsible to establish all service quality related procedures and policies in place. Farrukh is also involved in establishing customer care unit for problem resolution, customer service training & measurements, service level agreements, key performance indicators to name a few.
As of February 2010, Farrukh moved to Noor Takaful an insurance company of Noor Investment Group to set up the Service Quality (Policies & Procedures), Business Process Engineering & Training Division.
