Summary Profile

I am a senior Management and IT Consultant with 44 years of experience in the IT Industry. I started my career by joining IBM Corporation as an Apprentice Systems Engineer in 1971. In 2001, after almost 30 years with IBM, I left to join Visionet Systems, Inc. as Vice President (Operations) in New Jersey. I returned to Pakistan in 2004 as the Managing Director of Systems Limited, which is the oldest and one of the largest IT services company in Pakistan. In the 9 years that I worked as the Managing Director, the company grew from less than 100 employees to over 1,500 employees and the revenue grew by 20 times. More significantly the company was turned around from making losses to becoming a highly profitable company. On July 1, 2014, I retired from Systems Limited. Subsequently, I formed AshrKap Consulting a not-for-profit organization with the objective of providing mentoring and guidance to young entrepreneurs and start-ups and I continue to provide mentoring on a no-cost, no-obligation basis. I joined AT&T Corporation in May 2015 as the Country Manager (Pakistan Branch).

During my long career, I have worked in various technical and managerial positions in Pakistan, England, Italy, United Arab Emirates, and the United States of America, and have been involved in many large and complex projects.

I have also served as the Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Chairman of the Computer Society of Pakistan (CSP), member of the Board of Directors of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), member of the Management Committee of the Karachi Institute of Information Technology (KIIT), Chairman of the Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) Karachi Chapter, member of the Board of Trustees of the Publican Alumni Trust (PAT), member of the Board of Governors of Hisaar Foundation, and member of the Board of Directors of MIT Enterprise Forum of Pakistan.

Misc. Information

After matriculating from Public School, I did Inter Science from Adamjee Science College and later did B.Com from St. Patrick's College. My wife Yasmeen (Honey) is also an Old Publican, and we have a daughter (Rabiya), son (Omar), a daughter-in-law (Sanober), a grandaughter (Shazdeh) and a grandson (Sikander).
