Summary Profile
I joined the school in 1959 in class IV. After leaving the school in 1961 as my father, a civil servant was transferred to Lahore, I matriculated from St. Andrew's High School in 1966 and joined Govt. College Lahore from where I did my Masters in Economics in 1973.
I joined the Civil Service in 1974. After serving in various capacities, including CCI&E, EPB, the Embassies in Lagos and Madrid and in the Ministry of Commerce as Deputy and then Joint Secretary, I was posted as Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Karachi till January 2009 from where I was posted as Secretary Ministry of Zakat and then Special Secretary Cabinet Division Islamabad from where I retired in February 2012.
I have attended several international courses in international trade from ITC, WTO and Executive course in the Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge.
I am an ardent sports fan and have played tennis at the national level. I have also played a lot of golf but sadly the exigencies of my current job do not permit me to devote time towards active involvement, although I am a passionate watcher of sports and do try to see the top players in action in whatever city of the world I happen to visit.
I am also into "occult" studies and have strong belief that we are one of the many human species in the universe and that we have to learn from their civilization and technology to solve the societal and economic issues that we confront today in our world.
I am married with 2 college going kids who live in Lahore.
