Professor Iftikhar Ajmal Shaheen has passed away

Dear Old Publicans,

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that our esteemed and beloved teacher Professor Iftikhar Ajmal Shaheen passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

He was buried the next following day at Gulshan-e-Iqbal graveyard. Professor Shaheen was our Urdu teacher in 1972-1973. Later, he joined DJ Science College and retired from there in 2001 as head of the Urdu Department. Professor Shaheen was a writer and poet of national and international repute and has a number of books to his credit. The photo attached herewith shows him presenting floral bouquet to Mr. Javed Jabbar at a literary gathering held recently in Karachi.

Let us all pray for the soul of our beloved teacher and for the family to have the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
