Dear Ashraf Kapadia sahib,

Salaams.

Thank you for your email of about 1 hour ago which I have just read in New York as one surveys the
nightscape of this city that is, in some ways, so like Karachi, in its diversity and yet also unlike in
many other ways.

While one greatly appreciates your conveying a special "thank you" to the under-signed and to our fellow
Publicans for helping you to create, maintain and build the Publican website, the credit for investing the
focus, the time and the effort in this enormous effort rightly goes to you alone. After one's attempt to get
a committee to start the website in early June 2008 met with no progress, it was you who made the
singular effort to implement the proposal.

On behalf of all Publicans, this is to convey our sincere thanks  to you for your invaluable
contribution and your expertise in information technology.

While the website is the glue that binds us, the original seed is that incredible place and its space and its
sights, sounds, smells, the recalled touch and texture of our uniforms, our ties and our trousers ---and in some cases,
our skirts and shalwars  ! - and our
Principals and our  teachers and  staff and the stimulating education  and values
that they transferred to us and the  wonderfully varied, crazy, individualistic, unforgettable fellow
students who, 50 years plus or minus later, still believe that those brief, beautiful years have given us a
priceless treasure of memories worth preserving and worth inspiring us all to help shape
betterment for those who come after us.
One hopes that more Publicans contribute in practical ways to
further our shared cause.

May you sustain your  fine  work and enjoy good health and well-being.

Kindly share this email with all other Publicans.

Dear Sir

Thank you very much for your kind email.

Certainly our website is a glue and binding force for all the publicans. I, indeed appreciate and grateful to you and all those who took part in launching this website and playing important role in aintain it.

I am always in search of publicans who have not joined hands with us yet. In todays Letter to the Editor, Dawn (July 22, 2010), Mr. S. Nayyar Iqbal Raza has I some of his experience. He is an oldpublican. I I know him and sure he is from very senior batch then mine. I haven't seen his profile in our website. I would like to have him and every publican be part of our net.

Thank you

Dear Administrator,

It's interesting that two years ago, I had no idea what was happening with our dear old school, the class mates and other hundreds of people we used to talk, walk together or just saw them every day in school. We sat, ate, laugh or fought with them in the class, in the play ground, around the canteen or on our old rickety bus. We saw them every day many, many years ago, but had no clue about their lives or whereabouts in this decade?? You are right within these last two years I got connected with many old friends and foes. It brought me back the sweet bitter memories of late sixties.

A big salute to you for binding us "The Old Publicans' together WITH THIS WEBSITE GLUE. The photographs, articles, magazines everything is a treasure for all of us.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

Dear Ashraf,

Salaam Alykum,

It was good to hear from you & congratulations on the two years of constructive operations & maintaining the web site so wonderfully. The glue  that binds us is Public School is a special glue In the manufacturing of this glue the ingredients used contained  mutual respect, love , helping each other, respect of our teachers , getting to know each other on friendly & equal terms , seeing to each other needs, not only respecting each but extra care towards ladies , rising above self & suffer, if one can give comfort to a lady Publican, with our love & respect for each other set an example for the new generation. Acting like a well knitted family ,always be present for each other in the time of need.  If all this is in the present binding glue than nothing can make it apart & this rare glue will be in great demand & will not only set the nation but this global village on the right path.

Dear Ashraf, I am writing the second part of MY MEMORIES IN THE TIME TUNNEL 50 YEARS BACK along with some rare , priceless documents related to my classmates & schoolmates . Once complete I will send it for your review.
Rest is all fine, be in constant touch, my good wishes to you & to your family.

Dear Ashraf Kapadia,

I have always been appreciating the hardwork you have put in and gluingour school mates. Two years back i used to miss my school but never knew that the bonds will again be united.

I belong to Class 10B of 1964 and becaue of your efforts I had a small get together at my home. We were 13 in numbers then but if u multiply it with 44 (as we were uniting after 44 years) the gathering was of 572 people (13 x44). It was a wonderful evening. Dr Arif Alvi left his meeting in NWFP and attended the party. Everyone was just laughing happy and remembering the old school days. We were acting like school boys and girls. We could hardly remember ourselves by faces but we remembered by the events and the teachers. Hats off to you.

Let me tell you one thing more very interesting. I was married in 1980 and since then I know a cousin of my wife. but in 2008 I came to know she is my class fellow (same clas same section). This happened all because of you.

I would like that we have one grand get together again.

With your website and help of other Publicans who uploaded pictures of school years, we can now give a picture of our thoughts and dreams and share with our children as to how our years at the CPS looked by showing them the wonderful pictures of our school years.

Your commitment and putting the thought in action has produced a wonderful website. This is a beacon for all those who are thinking of good things should act upon their thoughts so that many such acts may materialize and goods things happen in our society.

Once again I thank you in making us proud and privileged to be a Publican. You no doubt have proved to be a very good Administrator. May our country have such administrators at the

helm of affairs for good and better governance.

Dear Mr. Kapadia,

Thank you for all your efforts and a start of a wonderful site that I believe will benefit us publicans for many years to come. The credit truly goes to you and your staff. I think the ideas only come to fruition with efforts and dedication from folks like yourself that have the guts to take time out of your schedule which I am positive is hectic.

In all honesty, since my departure from Public School in 1985, I was rarely in touch with anyone other than my father's (S. M. Siddique), fellow friends and teachers that occasionally come to visit him at home. On my visit to Pakistan in 2008, I was told by my older brother, also a Publican, Imran Siddique, told me about the golden jubilee celebrations which I happen to miss by one day. This initiated a search for my mates and i am happy to say that this website got me reconnected with my classmates and have met some of them in recent days.

I recently visited and met many Publicans in Washington D.C. at the house of Publican Mr. Qamar Kazmi and had the opportunity to meet with Publican Mr. Jabbar and found out about the activities of PAT in Karachi. Hopefully, I will get to meet him again on his visit to Philadelphia. All of this may not have happened, if it was not for this website.

I am sure you are getting many responses as a result of "The Glue That Binds" so I thought why not give you my two cents. We call it our "Alma Mater" that means "Nourishing Mother" and I will always be thankful to you for reminding me that.

Keep up the good work

My dearest Ashraf (aka Administrator) AOA,

I am always in awe and amazement at the resilience that you have shown over the last few years as our administrator.  I remember my last visit in 2004, we had the 69ers party.  Since that time you have tried to keep us together in Yahoo and MSN groups.  I also remember the wows and the boos that you had to face over time.  I also remember the encouragements from several of the 69ers,  the loudest voices obviously belonged to Adil and Naseer.  There were sprinkles from Iqbal, Zakir, Noor, Tariq and Khalid.  But you were always steadfast, and as a result we see the fruits in the OldPublicans.com.

So true the site has become the "glue that binds us'.  I have received phone calls and emails from several Old Publicans that enjoyed hooking up with the rest of the clan :)

My friend, it is always a pleasure to see new a posting on the OldPublicans site. We are always on the lookout for new members for PAANA (Publican Alumni of North America). The most amazing fact is that several Publicans living in North America found us through the website that you dreamed of, created, and maintained, and will be around Inshallah to keep-it-up-to-date.

Me, and the PAANA members, salute your efforts.

Together, we will all be strong, Inshallah.

Dear Ashraf

There is an old philosophical riddle: if a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it, did it make a sound?

The creation of the Old Publicans as an organization, by its founding members, was a very good initiative indeed. However your efforts in creating the website, and maintaining it with such diligence and care, has made OP  relevant to many more who would have remained oblivious of its existence, completely, or only come across it occasionally.

What your efforts have further done is to produce a digital, historical, archive of an excellent school, which shall remain for another generation even if the structures and buildings have suffered the inevitable ravages of time.

A publican three cheers to you: hip, hip, hooray!!!

Warm regards

Aamir

When I launched the website 2 years ago, on July 22, 2008, it only contained information on 50 Publicans and a few photographs. Today, with your support and cooperation, the website contains information on 785 Publicans, 14 School Magazines, and hundreds of photographs and other memorabilia.

Some time ago, I had written an article titled "The Glue That Binds .....". This article narrates the story of the creation of the Old Publicans website, and was published in the 2009 Alumni Yearbook. I have now added this article in the "News & Events" section of the website. You can view the article by going to the news item dated July 22, 2010 or by simply clicking here.

I hope that the Old Publicans website will continue to be the glue that binds all of us together, and I look forward to your continued support, as well as, suggestions for improvement.

Thank You.

With kind regards.
