July 16, 2010Publicans meet in North America
Dear fellow Publicans,
Salaams and greetings.
On 16th July 2010 between 8.30 pm and 10.30 pm at the residence of Publican Qamar Kazmi near Washington DC an extremely interesting, enjoyable and productive inter-action took place between 12 Publicans personally present at the venue and 12 Publicans participating by tele-conference call.
Names of the participating Publicans as recorded by the host are listed separately. 5 spouses also lent their charm to the gathering.
Mrs Uzma Kazmi and her spouse took extraordinary care to prepare a generous and sumptuous dinner and attended to their guests with gracious hospitality.
Some Publicans took valuable time out to drive or travel all the way from Dallas in Texas or Philadelphia or counties adjacent to Maryland/ Washington DC (and not forgetting a spouse and a certain Publican from Karachi) to be physically present. Those who joined in the tele-conference call reside in Texas, California, New Jersey, Canada and Pakistan.
Publicans in the USA waited patiently while Publican Izzat Kazi Ali ensured that a certain wayward Chairman,PAT and spouse were transported to the venue.
Despite the distraction of the delicious food, the well-stacked library and the friendly, charming company of fellow Publicans present, the under-signed was able to make a power-point presentation about the aims and the work to date of the Publican Alumni Trust.
In turn, the President, the Secretary, office-holders and members of the Publican Alumni Association of North America (PAANA) recorded their commitment to the shared cause, briefed us on their own work to date and called for funding support to facilities such as the science laboratories in the schools and regular contributions for other needs.
Details of funds mobilized from participants/ PAANA will be shared with you all shortly.
The 16th July inter-action is a fine and inspiring example of how the Publican spirit of fraternity endures and of how each of us can make a vital contribution to promote education in Pakistan.
Thank you to all the Publicans of North America who participated in the meeting and special thanks to Mr and Mrs Qamar Kazmi for their thoughtful efforts.
With best wishes
Javed Jabbar Chairman, PAT
