March 29, 2009Status Update - Publican Alumni Trust
PAT is rolling, gaining momentum, and with your support will soon be moving full speed ahead.
As you are aware, the Publican Alumni Trust (PAT) has been formed and was formally registered on January 29, 2009. The fundamental purpose and aim of the Trust is to mobilize Publicans to support the cause of education in Pakistan in its most comprehensive and qualitative sense. Copy of the Trust Deed has been posted on the Old Publicans Forum for your reference.
The Board of Trustees of PAT held its first meeting on February 17, 2009. During this meeting office bearers, committees, and the advisory council were finalized.

The Board of Trustees has also appointed Arshad Iqbal (Class of 1966) as the Legal Advisor to the Board of Trustees.
In addition, the Board of Trustees has appointed an Advisory Council consisting of the following:
The Board of Trustees also formed 3 committees as follow:
Rules & Byelaws Committee, with Zaffar A. Khan as its Chairman, is responsible for drafting the Rules & Byelaws of PAT and submitting it to the Board for review and approval. The committee has already had a number of meetings and the first draft of the rules & byelaws have been circulated to the members of the Board. After further refinements, the draft is likely to be formally presented to the Board of Trustees in its next meeting.
Fund Raising Committee, with Shirley Hyder Valika as its Chairperson, is responsible for proposing plans for raising funds for the programs envisaged to be implemented by PAT. The committee has already met and the first draft of the fund raising plan was presented in the 2nd meeting of the Board of Trustees. After further refinements, the fund raising plan is likely to be formally presented to the Board of Trustees in its next meeting.
Education Programs Committee, with Zohair Ashir as its Chairman, is responsible for putting together a plan for the Education Programs to be implemented by PAT. The committee has had a number of meetings and the Education Programs were presented during the second meeting of the Board of Trustees. After some modifications and final approval of the Board of Trustees, initial plans are likely to be launched in April 2009.
Now that the Publican Alumni Trust is rolling and gaining momentum, we will be looking to all Publicans for their support so that PAT can move ahead at full speed.
