Proposed formation of the Publicans Alumni Trust (PAT)
Your valued responses required by 25th September 2008 !
The following email was received from Javed Jabbar of the Class of 1961.
Dear fellow Publicans,
Salaams & greetings.
This e-mail is the outcome of the 9th planning meeting held on Saturday, 20th September 2008 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the School premises, Karachi.
The minutes of the meeting will be circulated separately shortly alongwith the names of participants.
At this time, on behalf of all those who attended, I write to convey the unanimous decision taken earlier today to formally propose and establish a Publicans Alumni Trust (PAT).
On the basis of recommendations made by an esteemed Publican i.e. Advocate Arshad Iqbal and after detailed discussion on the pros and cost of forming a society, association or some other entity, it was unanimously agreed that a Trust would be the most appropriate and convenient organizational structure for our aims.
The fundamental aim is to mobilize participation and efforts by Publicans in Pakistan and across the world to support education, in its most comprehensive and qualitative sense, for the benefit of the disadvantaged and the deserving.
While the successor schools to the original Public School and eligible persons in the knowledge of Publicans who meet criteria are the primary intended beneficiaries, the complete specific details will be finalized in the next meeting to be held on Friday, 26th September 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the School premises, Karachi.
It is proposed that membership of Publican of the Trust be based on payment of an initial amount of approximately Rs.10,000/- per member, and subsequent eligibility for membership of the Board of Trustees will be based on a larger amount to be precisely determined shortly.
The subscription of an amount as an essential criterion for membership of the Trust is based on the ground that the investment of a reasonable amount is a vital indicator of the seriousness and willingness of a Publican to devote time and resources to our shared cause.
While complete details of PAT will be made available shortly, this is specifically to request all Publicans who read this e-mail and see its placement on the website to respond at the latest by Thursday, 25th September 2008 as to whether, in principle, you support the formation of such a Trust.
If an e-mail is not received by the undersigned or by the Administrator of our website by Thursday, 25th September 2008, it will be assumed that you have no reservations about the formation of the Trust.
Thank you for your attention.
Look forward to our work together.
With best wishes,
Javed Jabbar
