Practicing Architect with 35 years of extensive professional experience in Architecture and Interior Design of a wide range of projects from small housing projects to multi-storey buildings, institutional, corporate, recreational and industrial projects.

 

A graduate from the University of Oregon, USA with a Bachelor of Architecture, started out in 1976 handling projects such as private houses, hotels, office buildings and schools for Habib Fida Ali before going on to establishing Shahab Ghani and Associates in 1977.

 

In 1985, was mentioned as one of the most talented youths of Pakistan, in a publication printed by South Asia Publications to commemorate the International Year of the Youth declared by the United Nations. Has a penchant for getting involved with the professional community to educate, improve standards of education and professionalism and to prepare and empower the younger generation to take on the challenges in life.

 

Beginning in 1986, became Critic and Thesis Advisor for final year students at Dawood College of Engineering and Technology for two years. Went on to teach courses in Architectural Design and Communication Skills at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture from 1991–93.

 

As a student at University of Oregon, was the President of the Foreign Students Organization during 1974-75 and presented with the "Most Outstanding Foreign Student of the Year Award" by the Foreign Student Friendship Foundation in1975. Represented Pakistan as an official delegate of The Institute of Architects, Pakistan (IAP) at the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA) Council Meeting in Bombay in 1985 and in Malaysia in 1986, and held many offices since then. Was Chairman of Karachi Chapter-Institute of Architects, Pakistan in 1982 as well as 1991, and became Honorary Secretary, Institute of Architects, Pakistan, in 1985 and elected National Council Member in 1991 and 2001. Also held an international office in 1991-92 as Honorary Treasurer, Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA). Involvement with the architectural community increased over the years with election to the office of Chairman, Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) from 2005–09. During this period was also Chairman of Accreditation Board responsible for accreditation of Professional Degrees in Architecture offered by Universities in Pakistan. Was a member of the Executive Committee at Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture 2009-11. Member Board of Governors Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture 2012-15.
